Earth Day with WVPT Cubby's Kids Club |

Join Cubby’s Kids Club (CKC) to celebrate Earth Day on April 18 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Hess Greenhouses beside the Shenandoah Heritage Farmer’s Market on Route 11 in Harrisonburg.
Be Local: Food from Home, the 2010 CKC Earth Day event, will focus on local gardening, THE GREENS series from PBS KIDS GO! and planting your own starter seeds.
This event is FREE for Cubby's Kids Club members. Guests may pay $5 with registration. Click here for the registration form. Registration forms are due by April 5.

Affecting 1 in 150 people, it is more prevalent than AIDS, pediatric cancer, and diabetes put together. It hinders an individual’s ability to use proper communication and social skills. It strikes males four times more than females, but impacts all races, ethnicities and cultural groups. However, with a vast amount of treatments available and more awareness and money being devoted to the cause, there is promise for those affected by Autism. Over 300 illustrated stories were submitted by children in grades Kindergarten through third grade throughout our service area. Stories were then judged by over twenty educators, librarians, business leaders and WVPT staff. Highlights of the children's stories have been posted here. |

Reading Rockets: Great Resource for Caregivers |

Reading Rockets is a national multimedia project offering information and resources on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how caring adults can help.
The Reading Rockets project is comprised of PBS television programs, available on videotape and DVD; online services, including the websites ReadingRockets.org and ColorinColorado.org; and professional development opportunities. Reading Rockets is an educational initiative of WETA, the flagship public television and radio station in the nation's capital, and is funded by a major grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs.
